A few days ago me and my homeschool theatre group went to a few different retirement homes to perform our radio play, Aunt Martha and the Baseball Game from a popular 50's radio show called Father Knows Best, which is on tv nowdays. The first retirement home had Budgies in the lobby/living room, which I was soooo exited about! Budgies are a really great pet to have in a retirement home, 1. Because they are cute, exiting and something for the residents to talk about. 2. Because they make happy noises. 3. Because the residents can say it's their pet. 4. Budgies bring cheer into any sad soul. My part was Betty Anderson. The Andersons' oldest daughter. My little 'sister' the youngest of the Andersons, Kathy and the Announcer shared a microphone with me. We took turns getting in front of it when we said our lines. The other characters included Bud (The teenage brother who is the middle child.), Margret (mother), Jim (father) and Aunt Martha. (The baseball loving old dawager)
