You want to make bars because they are no hassle, mix the batter, pour in a pan. But you want to make cookies because they are so crispy and amazing, but you have to shape the dough, which can sometimes be annoying when you want a quick snack or a dessert to take to a party. Well get this, these are Cookie Bars. The recipe is actually for chocolate cookie dough but modified to make bars. And you bake them in a pan. Already drooling? I thought so. ingredients 2 1/4 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 cup (two sticks) butter, softened 1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla 2 eggs 2 1/3 cups chocolate chips 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) instructionsPreheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside. In another mixing bowl, combine butter, brown sugar and vanilla. (I combined them with a spatula and mixed until there were no clumps of butter, and the mixture was brown and creamy.) Mix in eggs. Add half of the flour mixture, mix, and add other half. Mix until a dough is formed. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. (if you are using nuts) Spread mixture evenly in rectangular cake pan. (or loaf pan or any other kind of rectangular pan that is not shallow!) Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cut into squares. Enjoy!

You're late for school. You yank on some clothes and throw some berries in the blender with yogurt and a banana. It blends up in 10 seconds and you drink it on the way to school. Delicious, Nutritious, Filling, and Quick. Everything food should be. This 5 minute smoothie is a lifesaver when you are late. Studies show that kids do better at school when they have a good breakfast, so blend up one of these and still make it before the bell rings. Here's how:Peel a banana and plop it in your blender. Add 1 cup (or more!) berries (strawberries, raspberries or blueberries.) Add enough milk or yogurt to cover the berries. Squirt in honey as desired. Blend it up! Pour in a glass.
An average American family of 5 people spends about $200 on groceries each week. Half of that being fruits and vegetables. That’s a lot of money! Now, to get a successful garden going, the cost is about $50 for the seeds and general things you will need. And, the best part is, your garden will produce enough for many, many weeks, saving you money all spring, summer and fall! You can even freeze the produce that you couldn’t eat, (Because gardens produce a lot!) and save it for the winter when your garden is dormant. But what are flowers good for, you are wondering. Sure, they are pretty, but what else? Will they save you money? A bit. You will resist the urge to buy beauty products and decorations when you have flowers in your very own backyard, and some flowers are even edible, perfect for salads or cake decor. |
