We had a science book with a recipe for play goop that you can blow bubbles with, stretch, and copy drawings with. It's a lot like silly putty and not that much like goop at all. I so wanted to make it. and you can too. Note: You may want to make a double batch as the amount produced is small. You need: 1 and a half tablespoons of sta-flo liquid starch 1 tablespoon of elmers white glue Someone gave us some starch, so we put it in a water bottle.
Pour the glue in the bowl. Add food coloring if desired. add the starch and mix with your hands until it is rubbery and not sticky or runny. If it separates into rubbery globs that will not mix, add more glue. if it is too sticky, add more starch. Store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. You can get a straw and wrap some gloop around it and blow a bubble, or you can make really super thin sheets. The possibilities are endless. I liked making it flat, then folding it over and pinching the edges closed, then smooshing it to hear a popping noise! You can also bounce it! Too cool!
